OF CURSES AND KISSES | Sandhya Menon| Book Review

Book Title- Of Curses and Kisses

Author- Sandhya Menon

I was reading some other book while I felt like this book was calling out to me from my bedside table to pick it up. I’m so glad I picked it up. The book cover has my heart since the day I saw it.

It’s my first Sandhya Menon book, I’m so happy to read it, it turned out to be exactly the book I needed right now. It made me feel so many emotions and made me think about a lot of things. I believe it’s good when a book makes you think. For me it’s just not a book which is YA romance but about friendships, peers, family, bond, social pressure, self love and most importantly ignoring the major virus affecting us “log kya kahenge” . It reminded me how much we need to focus on what we want or what we feel is best for us rather than thinking what the so-called society thinks is good for us.

I loved how the author has beautifully thought and expressed everything in the book, from the location to the characters – Jata, Grey, Isha, DE, Leo , Rahul, even Kiran are so well described and developed that I could actually see them coming alive in front of my eyes. Felt like I was a part of a series or a movie. I’m surely gonna read more of Sandhya Menon’s books.

Some of you might not like it the way I did but it’s okay, I loved it and surely recommend it. I want you to feel the happiness that I did.

Some lines from the book that I loved:

•Sometimes the heart doesn’t have the luxury of doing whatever it wants.
Sometimes there are outside mandates on what the heart can or cannot do

•Familial expectations aren’t always the only way or even the right way

MY RATING- 4.5/5

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
